Walklite Coronavirus Safety Policy
In line with Government advice on safety in the workplace for deliverers, we have put in place the following safety measures:
1. Hand Washing
As regular handwashing remains the prime defence against coronavirus, deliverers will be supplied with, and advised to use, hand sanitiser and antibacterial wipes on pick-up and delivery to ensure their safety and so that luggage remains as contamination-free as possible.
2. Face Masks
Government advice is that face coverings are not effective protection from contracting coronavirus and are only marginally effective in preventing its spread. However in cases where social distancing is difficult, face masks will be provided to deliverers and they will be asked to wear them.
3. Social Distancing
Social distancing is to be observed when meeting with customers/accommodation providers and all reasonable steps will be taken to maintain a 2m distance.
4. Agreed Pick-Up and Delivery Times
When picking up and delivering luggage, a time will be agreed with the accommodation provider and social distancing will be maintained. Where possible luggage will be left in a safe storage area to minimise contact.
Payments for luggage transfers should preferably be made by bank transfer or sent by cheque to minimise contact. However if payment is made in cash to be collected on pick-up, customers are advised to attach it to their luggage in an envelope and the deliverer will be advised to maintain their hand sanitising regime.
The medical case for the use of gloves is not compelling and in some quarters they are seen as counter-productive, as people often neglect to wash their hands, through a false sense of security. However, if gloves provide reassurance to the customer/accommodation provider they will be made available to deliverers.
